New track from Lea Bertucci: Listen to “Warp and Weft”

It is with great pleasure today that we announce the first audio offering from Lea Bertucci‘s upcoming full-length album ‘Resonant Field’. On “Warp and Weft”, Bertucci slowly builds increasingly dense clusters of whirling saxophone improvisations, captured inside the cavernous Marine A Grain Elevator at Silo City in Buffalo, New York. As harmony and dissonance blur together as one, Lea unlocks the cerebral, trance-like microtonal effects of the frequency spectrum, reminiscent of the great pioneers of minimalist composition such as La Monte Young and Lou Harrison. Field recordings emerge and dissolve through the waves of overlapping sax improvisation, as does the growling low end of bowed double-bass, played by long-time collaborator James Ilgenfritz. You can listen to “Warp and Weft” now courtesy of NPR Music’s All Songs Considered: Viking’s Choice, as well as on electronic music news source Resident Advisor. Also available for streaming listening on Bandcamp and Soundcloud below.

“like a spinning top that doesn’t so much end, but seeps into our spiraling consciousness.”
–Lars Gotrich, NPR Music

“[a] 12-minute journey, layered with celestial drones and basked in a warm glow.”
–Andrew Ryce, Resident Advisor
